
Please join us as we stroll through the Highlands neighbourhood, connecting architecture to Edmonton’s history and meeting some of the interesting characters who have lived here since the 1870s. Highlands Historical Society is hosting two guided walking tours. Our revised booklet “The Highlands – Edmonton Historical Walking Tour” will be included with the tours. For both tours meet at Gibbard Block (6425 112 Ave). The tours are approximately two hours in length. Cost is $10 per person and children under 12 are free. Sunday, July 6, meet at 2:00 pm to tour the south side of 112 avenue. Included in this tour are many historic buildings such as Gibbard Block, Ernest Brown residence, Magrath Mansion, Holgate Mansion, Bury residence, parts of historic Jasper Avenue and much more.
Wednesday, July 9, meet at 7:00 pm to tour the north side of 112 avenue. Included in this tour are Gibbard Block, Highlands United Church (with a brief stop inside), Highlands School, Eda Owen Residence, Heritage Tree Avenue, Gaby Haas home and much more.
