Speaker Series: Unearthing Highlands History
Join the Historical Highlands Society for an engaging evening that brings local history to life in a very hands-on way.
Twyla Ritchie and James Belke, experienced metal detectorists and board members of the Historical Highlands Society, will present “Unearthing Highlands History.” Through their work exploring the neighbourhood, they have uncovered small but meaningful artifacts that offer a glimpse into everyday life in Highlands across the decades.
From personal items to long-forgotten objects, each discovery helps piece together stories of the people who lived, worked, and built this community. Twyla and James will share highlights from their finds, explain how metal detecting contributes to local historical research, and reflect on what these objects reveal about Highlands’ past.
