Edmonton and District Historical Society, Tuesday, October 22, 2019 at 7:30 PM – 9:30 PM, Old Timer’s Cabin
Everyone is welcome to come out and join the Edmonton and District Historical Society for a presentation: “James Bond Steele: Diaries of a One-Room Schoolteacher 1885-1891” with Melanie Moore, Bill Pick and Robyn Fowler of Highlands Historical Society.
In 1885 James Bond Steele left Ontario and followed his older brothers to the Canadian Northwest Territories. James recorded his experiences in several diaries. From these entries we glean much of what life was like for the early Edmonton settlers during and following the Northwest Rebellion of 1885: their fears, feuds and frustrations.
