Historic Festival and Doors Open launches Highlands Historical Society Guided Tour

This year’s 25th Annual Historic Festival and Doors Open celebrates the theme of Education. From July 4 to 11, 2021, participation takes place virtually and with in person events.

The lineup for the online events this year is found at: https://historicedmonton.ca/events/historic-festival/

The Highlands Historical Society is pleased to participate with a first ever virtual tour available online for free AND an all NEW tour featuring William Brown, the fourth person to take out a building permit after Magrath, Holgate and the Ash House. He built his house on 64 St and went on to build 6 more houses in the Highlands with his father!

Learn more about William Brown, Eda Owen, the connection with the Highlands School to the U of A and Buttercup Farm in our immersive tour taking place on Saturday, July 10, 2021 at 1 pm.

The cost of the tour is $10 and will be payable in cash in person. Reservations are made over the phone. Please call 780-471-3931 to book your spot. Space is limited.

The tour will take approximately 1 hour in length.

We look forward to sharing and celebrating the history of the Highlands with you! These are the stories that together make up an important part of Edmonton’s history.

Enjoy this year’s festival!
